Position overview:
If you are a hands-on type of person with a love for buildings and related systems, your career as a professional building inspector will be immensely rewarding. We require outgoing, confident and motivated people to perform home and building inspections. To succeed you must have an aptitude for solving technical problems, and outstanding people skills. You must be able to think on your feet and have excellent communication skills, including fluent verbal and written English. After comprehensive training, you'll spend the majority of your time in the field building the trust and respect of your clients with sound decision-making. Roles and responsibilities:
- Use your superior observation skills, technical knowledge and analysis to assess a home or building’s structural and mechanical condition
- Communicate inspection results to clients in an educational and entertaining manner
- Document your findings in a customized, computer generated, on-site inspection reports
- Handle appropriate paperwork
- Collect payments as needed
- Meet regularly with other team members to share experiences, continue technical education, and socialize
Knowledge/Skill requirements:·
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to perform moderate climbing and lifting
- Valid Georgia driver’s license
- Company provided vehicle for fee
- Hands-on aptitude
Personal attributes:·
- Outgoing, personable and confident and self motivated
- Knowledge of or interest in structures, mechanical and electrical systems and building envelopes
- Ability to work independently and solve problems
- Detailed and organized
Desired work experience:
- Some experience in real estate, residential construction or renovation, or construction project management would be an asset
- Suitable experience may also include technical sales, technical writing, teaching or technical training
Education:
- Home inspection training is an asset
